Project Overview

ZikaTrack is a mobile medical application designed to help users stay informed and protected during Zika virus outbreaks. The app provides real-time updates, prevention guidance, and an interactive photo analysis feature that allows users to contribute to mosquito surveillance efforts. The project was completed as part of an advanced UX design lab, focusing on user-centered design, usability, and accessibility.

The Problem

People living in or traveling to Zika-affected areas struggle to access clear, trustworthy, and up-to-date health information. Existing resources are often fragmented, overly technical, or not tailored to users’ personal circumstances—especially for high-risk groups such as pregnant women. This creates confusion, anxiety, and difficulty taking effective preventive action.

The Goal

ZikaTrack addresses these challenges by delivering a simple, accessible, and user-friendly mobile experience. The app centralizes reliable Zika information, offers real-time alerts, and provides clear prevention guidance. Through features like photo upload and analysis, users can actively participate in identifying mosquito risk areas, turning complex health data into actionable insights for both individuals and the wider community.
